Listen to
the calls of doves, louries, crows, guinea fowl, hornbills, paradise
flycatchers, red crested barbets, and kingfishers. But not be outdone
by birds, the vervet monkey and ground squirrels will compete for your
attention.
Identify indigenous trees such as the wild
olive, marula, common wild fig, red bush willow, mountain karee, stamvrug,
blue guarri, sicklebush, common spike thorn, and tinderwood.
Touch the skeleton of cheetah and wild dog,
the skulls of tortoises, guinea fowl and vervet monkey, the shells of
the leopard tortoise, horns of impala and nyala, and a variety of bird’s
nests and eggs.
Stroke the skins of the civet, puffadder
and boomslang snakes, and bird feathers.
Be awed by the mounted Cape Griffon vulture.
Tours are conducted by a knowledgeable guide,
lasting approximately 90 minutes, and is an experience that will leave
you feeling at one with nature! The guide’s explanations can be
tailored to the person or group from simple and understandable to advanced
and scientific.
At the Reach for the Wild’s Education
Building, you can also experience an interactive educational environment
where nature is respected and everyone is fully supported. The Education
Building can be reserved by schools or corporations or agencies looking
for an “off-site” meeting or team-building location.
De Wildt’s Reach for the Wild allows
you to explore and discover the awesome heritage of the ancient Magaliesberg
mountains, its indigenous plants, and animals.

at 08:30 am.
Cost of the tour is R50.00 for adults and
R20.00 for school children.
